Information Security Response Team Nepal (NPCERT) is organizing Global Cyber Security Summit (GCSS) 2018 in July 27-28, 2018 with the theme “Building Global Alliance for Cyber Resilience”. The objective of the summit is to bring diverse expertise in the field of Cybersecurity to share knowledge and skills. The summit will empower new generation and will bring together different stakeholders from various parts of the world, reflect on current cyber security trends to build a solid foundation to combat contemporary cyber security threats.
Primary target audience are IT professionals, security experts, government employees, enterprises, and learners from different sectors. The event contains one day of pre-summit workshop followed by the summit for a day. During the summit, the participants will have intense engagement on cyber security related issues and will get networking opportunity with the industry practitioners. For presenters, it provides an opportunity to showcase their experiences and ideas.
Samm SacksSenior Fellow, Technology Policy Program, Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS)
Samm Sacks is a senior fellow in the Technology Policy Program at CSIS. Her research focuses on innovation, cybersecurity, and emerging information and communication technology (ICT) policies globally, with a focus on China. She leads CSIS’s “China Cyber Outlook,” which analyzes China’s evolving ICT governance system, including data flow and privacy issues, technology sector political leadership, the build out of Chinese standards, and the global expansion of Chinese ICT companies. Before joining CSIS, she launched the industrial cyber business for Siemens in Asia, focusing on energy sector cybersecurity. Previously, she led China technology sector analysis at the political risk consultancy Eurasia Group. Prior to this, she worked at Booz Allen Hamilton and Defense Group Inc., where she advised senior U.S. government officials on China’s science and technology (S&T) development. A former Fulbright scholar in Beijing, Ms. Sacks holds an M.A. from Yale University in international relations and a B.A. from Brown University in Chinese literature. She reads and speaks Mandarin and is a frequent contributor to print and TV media, including Lawfare, the New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Reuters, Fortune, Bloomberg, Nightly Business Report, C-SPAN, and BBC.
Champika is the ICANN’s Regional Security, Stability and Resiliency (SSR) Engagement Manager for the Asia Pacific. He is part of ICANN’s Global Stakeholder Engagement (GSE) and SSR Teams and represents ICANN in Security, Technical, Law Enforcement and Capacity Building forums in the APAC region.
Prior to ICANN, Champika held managerial, specialist and liaison roles at the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC), the Regional Internet Registry for the Asia Pacific. Champika started his career with IBM Corporation as a Systems Engineer and later worked in IT industry, academia, research, and training environments in the Asia Pacific. Champika received a number of excellence awards during his academic and professional careers and also served in various technical community groups and committees.
Mr. Tripathi is an Ethical Hacker and Network Professional currently working with Check Point Software Technologies. His qualifications include a degree in computer application: CEH, CCNP – TSHOOT and detailed knowledge of security tools, operating systems (backtrack 5.0, Linus, windows) technologies and best practices. He has several years of experience as the Network Administrator.
Mr. Poudel has several years’ experience in undertaking audits & consulting assignments of banking, insurance, investment, manufacturing and social sector organizations. He has strong experience in Information Security Audit; Advising FDI, Private Equity & Venture Capital; and mentoring Startups. He is presently serving as a member of IT Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal. He also served the Institute as a member of Career Counseling Committee and IT Committee in the past. Mr Poudel is founder secretary of Artha Foundation, a Not for Profit organization that offers independent research, education, and service across various areas of financial education, economic citizenship and social entrepreneurship. He is a Founder Treasurer of South Asian Foundation for Academic Research (SAFAR).
With 10+ years’ experience in IT Field, Sugrip Rana Magar is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of the company. He leads the overall organization with specialization over Sales and Marketing and Supply Chain Management.
Mr. Rana has worked in online payment industry for over 10 years in areas of systems design, operations, risk management and Governance areas in South East Asia, the pacific region and the US. Mr Rana worked as a CEO of Smart Choice Technologies in 2008 and was instrumental in exploring payment technologies in making Access to Finance available to the rural population. Vivek is an Electrical Engineer by profession and holds an MBA in corporate Finance and risk management and is a certified information Systems auditor, and IT risk management and Governance specialist. Mr Rana is leading a startup company; InfoAssure© – an IT audit/assurance, risk management and IT governance firm in Nepal.

Registration fees are non-refundable unless the summit is cancelled by NPCERT, in those case we will make a full refund.
