Hempal Shrestha has been an innovative practitioner in the area of Information Technology and Social Development for more than one and half decade. A Social Researcher by passion, Technology consultant by profession and a lawyer by education, he is an avid speaker and moderator on the issue of Internet and Society, Information Technology and legal discourses at various national and international forums.
Before being an Technology Consultant, he earned his experience from the Software Industry, International Development, Media and the Academia. Hempal’s key strengths includes process facilitation, knowledge mapping, business process analysis and legal consultation. He brings on-board deep understanding about the macro and micro issues of Information technology and its correlation with business processing and social evolution.
Academically, graduate in science and law stream and masters in computers, he has several publications to his credit. He is the founding team member of the Wikipedians of Nepal- a user group of Nepali Wikipedians in 2011. He also co-founded the FOSS Nepal Community in 2005, which had a key role in persuading the Nepal Government to consider the Free Software and Open Source Software in their national e-Governance agenda, development and promotion of the Nepali and Newari Unicode. He is also the founding vice-chair of the Internet Society Nepal Chapter in 2009. Currently, he is the Chair of the R&D Committee, Federation of Computer Association of Nepal, and co-founder and director of the Nepal Entrepreneurs’ Hub (NEHUB).
